Our Story

We are a mother-daughter Hawaii home-based craft business started by mom in 1981 with daughter adding her own craft creations in 1998 when she was only in grade school. Mom, a third-generation Japanese American with plantation roots, had the entrepreneurial dream of having her own business and using her BA in psychology & art from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Balancing a full time career as a low-income public housing manager with the state of Hawaii for over 30 years, she started her crafts business with creating ceramic magnets featuring animals and local food characters. She then transitioned to making beaded jewelry and accessories, specializing in lanyard necklaces from 1999. Daughter Ariel, a fourth generation Chinese & Japanese American faithfully joined mom at craft fairs since childhood and grew to share the same dream.  She went on to earn a BA in psychology and a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Hawaii Pacific University.  She helped expand the business with social media marketing, customer outreach, and started her own clothing line, Cutesy By Ariel with screen printed designs from our original hand drawings and a collection of thoughtfully procured clothing with cute fabric prints. 

We are blessed, thankful for, and humbled by all of you who have come to craft fairs and other events to purchase our handmade products to share with your family and friends on numerous occasions.  We are thankful for the support and positive feedback you have shared with us over the years.  We will strive to continue to create functional products for you to enjoy
